Oh, what a load. Mickey wasn't the main character because hey, it's Square-Enix! The last time they had someone else's character in the starring role, they made Super Mario RPG, and it was a great game! If they'd kept Mickey in the lead role, then that would've been less emo sauce for Nomura. I'm sure it would've lead to problems with Epic Mickey, too.
I think I'd honestly like Kingdom Hearts a lot more if they just did a straight Disney RPG and forewent the Square Enix characters entirely. Seriously, what purpose do they serve? It's Disney-style monsters in a Disney-style setting with a fairy tale plot - like a Disney movie!* There aren't any Square worlds to see, or at least there weren't in either of the games I played. Did they just tack on Final Fantasy characters to drag in an older audience or something?
*At least this was the case until the sequels, which just threw the plot out the window so they could recycle enemy characters and have the gameplay consist solely of mashing the Triangle button to perform over-the-top Advent Children styled attacks.
Yep. Like I said, it would've been a super fun game, like Mario RPG. But Sqaure-Enix doesn't really like to make a lot of fun games anymore. Now they just like to toss out sparkly, enhanced graphics shit.
Boy, I can't wait for KH3. But they need to make about 4 more KH spin offs first, right? |
