Secret of Evermore

Secret of Mana with a more solid engine, a great sense of humor, a fantastic and atmospheric soundtrack, and 97% less boring filler and recycled bosses. Also, there's a bazooka. It may not be one of the SNES' best, but it's still a damn fun game and well worthy of people's eight bucks. Get it on there!

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

A buried gem of the SNES library with the best visuals the system ever produced, as well as a surprising amount of gameplay variation and challenge. It's one of the best damn platformers out there, open it up to a wider audience!

UPDATE: The Advance version of this one's now out on the 3DS' Ambassador program. Log on and download it, early adopters!

Pro Wrestling

Perhaps Nintendo's must unacknowledged 8-bit game, it is one of the few to never see rerelease in any form, be it the Classic NES series on the Game Boy Advance, Virtual Console, or even the numerous NES games tucked away inside Animal Crossing. Sure, it may not be a gem, but it's held up better than most of the system's early sports games and it's still a bit of good fun once in a while. Give more people a chance at it!

TMNT 4: Turtles in Time (SNES)

I could say this of all the TMNT games besides the first, but I may as well go for the best of the bunch and pick Turtles in Time. Everyone knows that lousy-ass PS3/Xbox Live remake doesn't do the genre justice in any way, shape or form, so make the original available again and show everyone how a sidescrolling beat-em-up should be done!

The definitive SNES cult classic, lauded for its unique setting and bizarre sense of humor. Sadly, being released in the era before JRPGs were popular, it sold poorly despite a heavy marketing campaign and now can only be found on eBay where vultures demand upwards of $150 for a complete copy - the same fate as another great but tragically underprinted JRPG, Suikoden II. Come on guys, quit being chickens and refusing to release a classic based on two seconds of a song that might get you sued for being slightly similar to a copyrighted song. Hell, I'll even make you a promise: I'll personally headbutt anyone who does file suit against you for something so asinine.

There, you see? You're in good hands. Get that game released!

Punch-out/Super Punch-out (Arcade)

Punch-out has long been a favorite Nintendo franchise, with the NES game probably being the most fondly remembered for its large sprites and surprising challenge. But that's not where the franchise began - there were two arcade games bearing the name, the second being an updated version of the first with an almost entirely new cast of boxers (much tougher than the standard game's fare). There was also a bizarre spinoff called Arm Wrestling, but we won't get into that here. Give us a chance to check out how the series began without having to search every dusty old arcade in a 700-mile radiuis!

Fuck yeah! Some asshole stole my copy of Evermore, so now I'm stuck emulating it. Mario World 2 was just plain fun, and I've heard nothing but good things about Earthbound. And TMNT...fucking aye, that was fun. Never really was a fan of sports games, but they are kind of fun to watch (I see you, Punch-Out!).

I'm sad that Nintendo's really cut back on the VC releases. It used to be 3 per week, but then Wii Ware and DSi Ware came in. And much of the stuff released is crap, DLC cash-ins, or re-hashed games. I've only purchased 3 Wii Ware games: Cave Story (yay!), Lost Winds (yay!) and FF4: The After Years (fuck). The rest has all been VC stuff. And it all rocks.

Oh, yeah...Legacy of the Wizard and Mendel Palace would be great, too. Hard as hell, but fun.

I would love to see Legacy of the Wizard. Falcom's always made some damn good stuff and they've already released Faxanadu and the Ys collection on there, so hell, let's see some Legacy!
